When Mae Moon and Mae Mung gave birth to Poo Gao and Poo Ruen, respectively, six months ago, the young buffalo calves were a blessing for Ai Techa, a 63-year-old farmer from Ban Mae Khanil Nuea in Chiang Mai's Samoeng district. Such is the affection that Mr Ai has for the buffalo in his herd that he has given them all names, and treats them more like old family friends than beasts of burden. For years he has made a great effort to preserve his herd, but he is an exception to the rule these days. Read more... A French city located in the heart of the Massif Central – the leading European region in beef cattle production -, Clermont-Ferrand will be hosting the 19th edition of the SOMMET DE L’ÉLEVAGE, with 1,900 animals on display. This key event for European livestock professionals will take place next October 6th, 7th and 8th, gathering over 1,200 exhibitors from all agricultural sectors and 76,000 visitors, 2,500 of whom will come from abroad. Those three days will provide a unique programme of animal presentations, business meetings and conferences, all of which will unfold within a climate of friendship, characteristic of this trade fair.
